She holds an MS in Cosmetic Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy from Mumbai, India.

Her passion for mentorship is evident in her role as a Leadership Coach for undergraduate students at Rutgers University, Newark, where she guided future leaders in navigating their academic and professional journeys.

Congratulations on your appointment. What does this role mean to you personally and professionally? What are the main priorities you have set as the new chair?

Thank you. It is both an honor and a great responsibility to serve as Chair of NYSCC. This organization has played an important role in my own professional journey, so stepping into this position feels like a full-circle moment.

Professionally, it’s an opportunity to help shape the future of our industry at a time of tremendous transformation. Personally, it’s about giving back to a community that has supported my growth.

My priorities are centered around expanding our global reach, strengthening engagement across all levels of membership--from students to industry leaders--and ensuring that diversity and inclusivity remain integral to how we evolve. I’m also excited to bring new platforms to life, including our podcast, to amplify voices across the cosmetic science community.

From your perspective, what are the most significant changes currently shaping the cosmetic science industry?

We are seeing a convergence of science, technology, and consumer expectations that is reshaping the industry in profound ways.

Biotechnology and advanced ingredient design are enabling more precise, sustainable, and high-performance formulations. At the same time, there is a growing focus on skin health and longevity, moving beyond short-term results toward long-term wellness.

Equally important is the shift toward inclusivity—developing products that work across diverse skin tones, hair types, and global consumer needs. Beauty is no longer a single category; it is increasingly connected to health, wellness, and personalization.

What emerging ingredients or formulation approaches do you find most promising?

Biotech-enabled ingredients are particularly exciting—from fermentation and bio-identical actives to next-generation delivery systems. These approaches offer improved consistency, scalability, and sustainability compared to traditional sourcing.

We’re also seeing a move toward multi-functional formulations that support the skin barrier, microbiome, and overall resilience. It’s no longer about a single “hero” ingredient, but rather how ingredients work together synergistically.

In addition, advances in encapsulation and controlled delivery are enhancing both performance and sensory experience, which is becoming increasingly important in product development.

What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the sector today?

One of the biggest challenges is balancing rapid innovation with regulatory complexity and consumer trust.

As new technologies and ingredients emerge, ensuring safety, transparency, and compliance across global markets becomes more demanding. At the same time, consumers are more informed than ever and expect clear, credible claims.

The industry must continue to invest in robust data, scientific validation, and responsible communication to maintain trust while pushing boundaries.

This is why events such as Suppliers’ Day are so important. It provides a comprehensive forum for the beauty and personal care industry to learn, discuss and discover the latest information affecting product development and consumer expectations.

You’ll be hosting the official NYSCC podcast, “The Science Shaping Beauty.” What stories or voices are you most excited to highlight?

The podcast is an exciting new platform for us. I’m particularly looking forward to highlighting the diverse voices that drive innovation in our industry—scientists, entrepreneurs, emerging talent, and industry leaders.

We want to share not only breakthroughs in science, but also the personal journeys behind them. It’s about giving a voice to the people, our members, who are shaping the future of beauty and creating a space for meaningful conversations across the community.

Could you share some insights on the theme of this year’s NYSCC Suppliers’ Day and the reason behind its selection?

This year’s theme, “Breaking Beauty Boundaries with Science,” reflects the transformation happening across the beauty and personal care industry.

Science is expanding what beauty can be—moving beyond traditional categories into biotechnology, advanced ingredient design, and deeper insights into skin health and longevity. It also reflects a broader shift toward wellness, with products designed to support the skin barrier, microbiome, and long-term health.

At the same time, the theme emphasizes inclusivity—ensuring innovation serves a diverse, global audience. Suppliers’ Day, May 19-20 at the Javits Center in New York City, brings all of this together, showcasing how collaboration across the industry turns scientific discovery into real-world solutions—from formula to finish.

What message would you like to share with the global community of cosmetic scientists?

This is an incredibly exciting time to be part of the cosmetic science community. We are at the forefront of innovation, with the ability to shape not only products, but how people experience beauty and wellness.

My message is to continue pushing boundaries, embrace collaboration, and remain committed to science-driven innovation. The work we do has a meaningful impact—and together, we have the opportunity to define the future of beauty.
